24 Hour Comic Book Challenge Returns
Clarkdale, AZ - Six members of the Northern Arizona Cartoonist Association (NAZCA) will compete in the 2nd Annual 24 Hour Comic Book Challenge Fundraiser beginning at Noon on Saturday September 28 and ends at Noon on Sunday, September 29 in Clarkdale. The event will take place at the Park Hotel located at 921 Main Street in Clarkdale.
The event is a partnership between the Clarkdale Downtown Business Alliance and the Northern Arizona Cartoonist Association and is a fundraiser for the Clark Memorial Library. A page pledge for the Friends of the Clark Memorial Library will be available at the event for the public to donate money according to how ever many pages the group will be able to complete in 24 hours at the event. The public is encouraged to stop by and cheer on the artists and writers! And if you can’t stop by you can still make a pledge online at https://friendsofcml.org/
The artists competing in the 24 Hour Comic challenge are Jan Marc "The Janimal" Quisumbing (Sedona), Ricky Killingsworth (Cottonwood), Danny "Wild Card" Roberts (Cottonwoood), Dyshan Gaines (Rimrock) DC and Marvel Comics veteran Dave Beaty (Prescott Valley) and "Alabama" Al Sparrow (Phoenix).
The event, part performance art - part endurance test, is in honor of 24 Hour Comics Day, an annual international celebration of comics creation held on the first Saturday in October. NAZCA’s completed comic book will debut on October 5th, Saturday at the 6th Annual Clarktoberfest on Main Street in Clarkdale.
The Northern Arizona Cartoonist Association can be reached via their FB page or by emailing acting president Jan Marc Quisumbing at holla@thejanimal.com.
